    > Except it's nice when your scripts work on more than one system.

I'm not sure how powershell is any better in this regard.

    > Yes, but the shell knows what processes are, and indeed has its own data types to store and manage individual processes.

I understand that powershell is object oriented, but I don't see how that makes it any less fragile, or less system dependent. In fact, I would think that the object approach would be more system dependent.

Both the object interfaces and text output will break things if they are changed. I've had scripts run unmodified for over 10 years that parse text from 'ps'. I generally don't use shell script though. I used to use perl, but migrated several years ago to ruby. The only place I use shell scripts is on an 'appliance' where ruby isn't available.

Actually the grass you have in your yard is designed. It is a culled hybrid developed by humans for use for foot traffic, urinary relief of animals, uniform color, certain watering parameters, and even growth. One of the actual thing you can find out when selecting plant types is the salt tolerance (the thing in piss that can kill grass), and what nutrients it needs. If you have poor nitrogen fixing in your soil environment, animals pissing on the grass may actually be very good indeed for your lawn. This is depending on the amount you already fertilize, and the type of grass you have.

Now HUMAN piss, is LOADED with things that should not go on grass. If you get any amount of that in one spot, chances are it is going to die. The huge amount of NaCl in our piss is enough to literally salt the earth.

All lawn glasses are bred plant strains, just like modern crops.

I mentioned the electoral college only because some presidential candidates have won the popular vote but not the electoral college. Additionally, your assertion that most people did not vote is not true. Estimates put the percentage turnout (of eligible voters) between 63.0% and 61.7%, which is pretty damn high by American standards.

I would suggest that Fox is most watched because it is the favorite news station of conservatives, while liberals are probably split between CNN, MSNBC, etc.

Yep, from the US. Definitely get your girl in to a gynecologist. If she has not been before it's not the most pleasant thing but absolutely necessary. They will feel her chest up, check her throat and stick crap up her vag. She can decide if she would be more comfortable with a man or woman doctor. Like I said, this should be done once a year.

As far as any issues go, don't be afraid or embarrassed to talk over issues such as pain, smell, etc. The docs are professionals and they can help. Also, they can help if she has any problems with her periods. She may also want to consider actual birth control besides the pull out method and should talk to her doctor about it.

Good luck guys and have fun! Sex is good!

So, I emailed her. "I do not understand how you could write such a story in good conscious. By writing the previous story, you slandered David Dwees name. You ruined his credibility. Even after his death, you slader his name more. You had no proof that he committed the things he was accused of. He was, like everyone else, innocent until proven guilty. I believe he knew that with this story, he would never again be able to what he loved, help kids. I believe he only liked to help these kids. What you wrote ruined his life. You should take responsibility. Apologize to his family. Apologize for both of those poorly written articles. Hope that you will not get fired for this, but if I can do anything, you will be. You shouldn't be able to write, not if you write things like this."

Her response. "I did not write the previous story. Can't you read?"

My response. "I'm sorry, I made a mistake. See, how hard is that to say?"

two issues here. 1) what happens when one officer orders you to do something and another officer interferes with you following or directly contradicts that order? does the higher rank win? does whoever asked last win? i mean, i know who the loser is - me, but that brings me to issue 2) how is the interfering/contradicting officer not obstructing you from following a lawful order? is there legal recourse against that, or does "they're allowed to lie to you to get you to break the law" cover that too?

    I said probably.

    1. Airbag

    2. Railroad signal

    3. Smoke/heat/any sort of computer based detection system or emergency cut off system for anything from homes to power plants

    4. Fuse box/Circuit breaker - very simple machine but a machine nonetheless, although I guess that's kind of under 3. Then again, most computer or machine based devices used in protecting the live and limb of humans are designed around detection and cut off or alarm, so that's not surprising.

    5. I'm going to say computers, even though they aren't really live protecting - although they can be used in various life saving applications (search and rescue, emergency coordination), and it's quite obvious the number of decisions computers make that would be quite impossible to make by hand (networking, I/O, etc).

Indeed but then a generation has been given easy money and not needed to consider the value of anything, so they've also become subject to lazy government that doesn't appreciate the opportunity it's founders gave them.

One good outcome from the depression might be a call for back to basics or at least having people become more engaged in political issues that might repeal some of the nonsense and make smaller less intrusive government and law.. if only for the cost. Maybe also there will be better representation from those who put themselves forward as truely representative of the people rather than for the money/power trip.

I'm not too much of a futurist, but from what everyone's been saying, we've supposedly been on the precipice of lots of development shifting over to web-based serials and shit for mobile phones for a while. I haven't been seeing this happen, and I think that as long as you can make a film for 10 to have it gross 20 (or for 400 and have it gross 800), there's going to be a primary emphasis on theatrical distribution.

(but yes, I think this is cyclical and I think that the money will come back. it's already started happening as 2010 budgets are being put together)

I don't have any kids (yet), but I remember one day listening to a one or so year-old kid crying his heart out at ear-splitting volumes over a bashed finger or somesuch, and thinking to myself, 'Dang... it's like that's the BIGGEST problem he's ever had in his life!'

It suddenly occurred to me that *it WAS* the biggest problem he'd ever had in his life, at least that he could remember anyways! Blew my mind.

This has nothing to do with your situation, of course, but it reminded me of it so I'll throw an upvote your way. :)

Even North Korea has a constitution, - the current one adopted 1998 and recently amended to drop any mention of communism and consolidate more power into the dictatorship.

On the other hand, the United Kingdom, established under the current Parliaments of England and Scotland in 1707 and extended to Ireland in 1801, has no written constitution, and yet is certainly no dictatorship; - a parliamantary democracy. The only limitations on the executive branch of government (the Crown corporation) being the Magna Carta, 1215, (accepted in the Confirmation Cartarum, 1297) and the Declaration of Rights, 1688, (accepted in the Bill of Rights, 1689).
